This initiative also gives graduates practical advocacy experience and the platform to express themselves on important national issues they face as young adults.
School children who participate in this project are recruited and trained by ‘Youth Ambassadors’ who are SHS Graduates desirous of winning the Mr & Miss SHS Contest. They train and present these children for the Read to Excel Contest as part of their project work for marks. Where their children excel, they are awarded marks just as their candidate will win prizes. These children should be able to read and write and confident enough to face a judging panel to express themselves in English.
SHS Graduates are given the opportunity to meet Stakeholders in society to discuss national issues and also to help them seek answers to nagging issues from authorities who govern and are mandated to take of the needs of their citizens. This also helps these young adults to learn from their role models in government and across various industries.
